Six age cat wins and three PBs for North Wales runners at Conwy Parkrun.

North Wales Road Runners collected six age category wins and celebrated three personal best times at the Conwy parkrun last Saturday, in addition to claiming three additional cat wins and a top female placing as tourists at other parkruns.

With an entry of thirteen athletes amidst the two-hundred and forty finishers at Conwy, Martin Green was the first man home overall to win his VM45-49 age cat in 17 minutes and 7 seconds, with club rival Josh Keogh a close second in 17.50 to win his own SM30-34 age cat.

Mark Jessett also enjoyed another excellent performance in 4th place, and he was the 1st VM35-39 cat winner in 18.53, and Steve Bozier claimed a new parkrun PB in 19.37, finishing 9th overall and he was 1st in his VM40-44 cat.

Carla Green ensured it became a “Mr and Mrs” double occasion when she finished as the 1st female to add to her husband Martin’s overall event victory. Carla was 10th overall and claimed a deserved new parkrun PB in 19.49 to win her VW45-49 age cat. And the fast pace of this event was confirmed by the first twelve runners, who all dipped under twenty-minutes.

Steve Roberts continued his steady form and finished 2nd in his VM55-59 age cat, and finished 22nd overall, in 21.39.  Sean Butler was 30th and 2nd VM60-64 cat in 22.12, with Daniel Owens, supported this week by his guide Gwyn Williams, finished 2nd in his SM25-29 cat and was 44th overall in 23.34.

Three master veterans also enjoyed good runs at the weekend with Don Hale winning his VM65-69 age cat in 24.13 in 62nd place overall. Don was closely followed by fast improving Rob Fryer as 2nd MV65-69 cat, in 69th place in 24.36, and Ian Turner, who is busy preparing for the London Marathon, recorded his 5th successive Conwy parkrun PB, finishing 115th in 27.31.

And Helen Hannam, who was recovering from last week’s half-marathon success, finished 95th overall, and 16th female, whilst claiming 2nd place in her VW45-49 age cat, and it was good to see Michael (Pat) Finnie back running again after ill health, finishing 106th overall in 27.01.

Success for other NWRRC parkrun tourists.

Four NWRRC athletes ran as tourists at other parkruns last Saturday and three members won their respective age categories, with Sarah Ferguson-Hudson also finishing as 1st Lady.

Sarah was the 1st female at the Forest of Dean event, finishing 14th overall and 1st VW40-44 cat winner in 23.17. Harry Driscoll also won his SM20-24 age category at the Sandall Park parkrun at Doncaster finishing 14th overall in 19.25, whilst his mother Liz Driscoll recorded a unique family double by winning her own VW50-54 age cat at the same parkrun, finishing 49th overall and 9th female runner in 25.17.

And all credit to Gethin Wyn Jones who returned to racing after a period of ill health. He competed at the undulating Nant y Pandy parkrun finishing 24th overall in 24.18.
