Josh finished second at Conwy parkrun despite a great new PB – plus other race results…

 It was bright and breezy at the Conwy parkrun last Saturday where over two-hundred finishers enjoyed the exceptional conditions and picturesque route to record a host of PBs and fast times, with the first nine finishers all dipping under the twenty-minute barrier.

Road Runner Josh Keogh ran his socks off and claimed a deserved new PB, but he still finished a few seconds adrift of the overall winner, teenager James Smith, who also recorded a PB in 17.00, with another young runner Peter Cotterell, finishing 3rd in 17.28.

Josh was one of three NWRRC members who won their age categories, and yet, amazingly a further eight club runners all finished second in their cats! He led home a team of eleven seniors and one junior in 17.13 and was 1st in his SM30-34 age cat.

Jonathan Kettle additionally won his MV45-49 cat in 6th place overall in 18.33, with Harry Driscoll 8th and 2nd in his SM20-24 cat in 19.25. Will Williams had another promising run to finish in 9th place, and 2nd in his MV45-49 cat in 20.29, with Gethin Wyn Jones, was another 2nd placer in his MV35-39 age cat, and 13th overall in 20.49, whilst Karl Morris enjoyed a rare parkrun outing with a great result, finishing 14th and 2nd in his MV40-44 cat in 21.14.

Steve Roberts ran well again to finish in 17th place overall in 21.32, and finished 2nd in his MV55-59 cat. Meanwhile, Jamie Tharme recorded another superb PB in 24th place in 22.03 but he had to settle for 4th spot in his MV40-44 age cat.

Sean Butler was another age cat winner of his MV60-64 group just six-seconds behind Jamie in 25th place in 22.09, whilst master vet Don Hale, who is still struggling with injury finished in 67th place, and he was 2nd in his MV65-69 age cat in 25.53, with Sue Smith 112th and 2nd in her VW55-59 age cat in 29.00. Another result worthy of mention was that of young Ben Spofforth who claimed a new PB in 28.38, and he too finished 2nd in his JM10 age cat.

*The results at Conwy included: 1st James Smith (Menai T & F) and 1st SM18-19 with a PB in 17.00, with 2nd Josh Keogh (NWRRC) and 1st in his SM30-34 cat with another PB in 17.13, and Peter Cottrell (Warley Wood Pacers) finished 3rd, and he was 1st in his SM20-24 cat in 17.28. Hat-trick of victories for runners on the road:

Prestatyn: Stuart Culverhouse and his son Joe both won their respective age categories at the Nova Prestatyn parkrun last Saturday. Stuart finished in 2nd place overall and won his MV50-54 age cat in 20.09, with Joe running home in 20th spot in 23.45, and he too was 1st in his JM11-14 age cat.

Cyclopark: Mark Jessett secured a great result to finish as the 1st runner overall at the Cyclopark parkrun at Gravesend in Kent, last weekend, with a storming performance to also win his MV35-39 age cat in 17.19.
